Half-Diminished Chord (Minor 7b5)

The half-diminished chord is simply the diminished chord with the b7th note added.

Let’s use the C diminished chord to show this:

C diminished

C half-diminished / Cm7b5

Half-diminished Chord Formula:

The half-diminished chord formula is 1-b3-b5-b7 (i.e. the Root, b3rd, b5th, and b7th notes).
